Public transport: bus tracking and verified service delivery
Verified service delivery towards the client and legal compliance — automatically, not from a spreadsheet.
In public transport, revenue depends on verified service delivery: when, which service, at which stop — and who was driving. FleetControl turns the tachograph, which is already mandatory on the bus, into automatic driver identification, and together with the MyBusDirect platform, stop-by-stop data transmission and automatic tachograph download, it provides what both the maintaining body and the authorities accept: factual data.

Did you know? The tachograph card must also be used on scheduled services under 50 km
Under Article 3(a) of Regulation (EC) No 561/2006, regular services with a route under 50 km are only exempt from the driving and rest time limits. Under Section 92 (2) of Hungarian KöHÉM Decree 6/1990 (IV. 12.), the bus must be fitted with a tachograph (scheduled buses are not on the exemption list in Section 92 (3)); under Article 34 of Regulation (EU) No 165/2014, the driver card must be used in the installed tachograph; and Section 18/K of the Hungarian Road Transport Act (Kkt.) requires the rest time ratios to be ensured here as well. FleetControl turns this obligation into a data asset: by reading the card number from the CAN bus, every report is automatically linked to the driver.

The benefits
- Tachograph-card-based driver identification from the CAN bus — without a separate RFID device or administration
- MyBusDirect: intelligent passenger transport platform built on FleetControl data
- Data transmission every 1–10 seconds, more frequent when the bus door opens — stop-by-stop accuracy
- Automatic tachograph download, with monitoring of the 90/28-day deadlines
- 56-day presentation obligation (Article 36 of Regulation (EU) No 165/2014, from 31.12.2024) covered: the logbook app stores the data offline, in 10+ languages
- Automatic logbook keeping; base data for rest time documentation under Sections 18/K–18/M of the Kkt.
- Driver behaviour analysis: driving scored for both passenger comfort and fuel economy
- Fuel analysis: consumption broken down into driving vs. stationary (heating, waiting with doors open)
- FleetCam: AI-based on-board camera to clarify disputed situations
- Opentravel connection and BusNET passenger Wi-Fi

Frequently asked questions
Must a tachograph card be used on scheduled services under 50 km?
Yes — the exemption only applies to the driving and rest time limits (Article 3(a) of Regulation (EC) No 561/2006); fitting a tachograph is mandatory under Section 92 (2) of the KöHÉM Decree, and under Article 34 of Regulation (EU) No 165/2014 the card must be used in the installed tachograph. Section 18/K of the Kkt. requires the rest time ratios to be ensured.
How can service delivery be proven to the client?
The system records the route and door openings with stop-by-stop accuracy; the logbook and trip records are generated automatically, linked to the driver — proof of service is logged factual data.
How can tachograph fines be avoided?
The system automatically performs the 90-day vehicle unit and 28-day driver card downloads from day 70/24 and sends an alert if it does not succeed; the driver's 56-day presentation obligation is covered by the offline app.
