Fleet management and long-term rental
Fast and smooth administration is a real competitive advantage in rental.
The two most expensive risks for fleet management and long-term rental companies are an authentic odometer reading and enforcing the contractual mileage. FleetControl handles both with factual data: it records the kilometres from the CAN bus and a parallel GPS-based counter, monitors lease and rental mileage allowances pro rata, and provides a complete report on a returned vehicle at the push of a button — with a speed chart, speed camera log, parking events and the last refuelling.
Fast and smooth administration is a real competitive advantage in rental: where handover and return, expiry monitoring and settlement depend on manual work, every turnaround of every vehicle is a risk. With FleetControl's automated security and administrative solutions, the time spent on fleet management is reduced to a minimum — control, predictability and instant reports at the push of a button.

The benefits
- Odometer authenticity: the system keeps a parallel GPS-based counter and reads the dashboard reading from the CAN bus — a reprogrammed odometer is exposed within weeks
- Lease and rental mileage allowance monitoring: pro rata comparison with forecasting — an excess is detected while the contract can still be amended
- Vehicle rental report: accurate to the minute for the rental period — logbook, speed chart, speed camera log (recorded 1500 m before and after the camera), parking events, last refuelling, excess mileage in km and %
- Logbook and trip records as a basic service
- Automatic expiry monitoring: roadworthiness test, third-party liability (KGFB)/comprehensive (CASCO) insurance, permits — with email notification, instead of Excel
- Service interval monitoring based on km, operating hours or calendar days
- Configurable alerts (24/7): movement, alarm, bonnet opening, leaving the operating area
- Theft protection: movement monitoring (detection of loading onto a low-loader or towing), external power monitoring with built-in battery, remote immobilisation
- Border crossing monitoring at the actual border line — enforcing the territorial scope of the insurance
- International trip and driving time report, tour/charter report for settlement with lessees
- Checklist with photo documentation: on-site handover and return, from the app
- User management: the lessee, the dispatcher and the owner see the data with different permissions
Results
-
Uncovering odometer tampering
How a reprogrammed odometer was exposed by the GPS-based parallel counter.
-
Lease contract excess mileage, proactive intervention
How the system flagged the expected excess mileage halfway through the contract.
-
Missed service interval and loss of warranty
Retrospective proof of a 10,000 km service interval overrun.
-
Preventing illegal border crossing and insurance exclusion
Why the comprehensive insurance did not pay out, and how the system has reported every border crossing since then.
Recommended devices
- UniTrack tracker — made in Hungary, 3–5-year warranty, CAN connection
- Remote immobilisation device — in the event of theft or breach of contract, the vehicle can be safely disabled
- OEM data connection — for newer vehicles, without installing a device, from the factory system

Best suited if…
- you operate rented or leased vehicles, and odometer authenticity, exceeding the mileage allowance or disputes on return are risks measurable in money;
- you currently keep track of expiries and services in Excel, and a deadline has already been missed;
- it is less relevant if you only want to see the position of one or two of your own cars — a simple tracker is enough for that.
Frequently asked questions
How can the odometer reading of a rented vehicle be proven?
FleetControl keeps a parallel, independent kilometre counter based on the vehicle's movement and also reads the dashboard reading from the CAN bus. If the two differ, the system flags it — so a reprogrammed odometer is exposed within weeks.
What does the rental company receive about a returned vehicle?
A vehicle rental report: logbook, speed chart, speed camera log, parking events in Hungary and the last refuelling data, as well as excess mileage over the km limit in kilometres and as a percentage — for a period accurate to the minute. The parking data also matters because the obligation to present the parking ticket lies with the rental company.
Can the mileage of a lease contract be tracked?
Yes: the system compares the contractual mileage allowance pro rata with the actual mileage and warns in advance if an excess is expected — while the contract can still be amended.
Can the vehicle be disabled if the lessee misuses it?
Yes, with the remote immobilisation device the vehicle can be safely disabled; and with the operating zone function, automatic disabling can also be set for low-speed equipment (e.g. rented work machines) when they leave the zone.
