ESG reporting for fleets: what needs to be measured, and how?

In short
In the ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) framework, fleet operation appears as a significant environmental item: reports require fuel consumption, CO₂ emissions and the distance travelled to be reliably documented. In FleetControl, this data is recorded automatically in the logbook lines — so ESG reporting is not extra work, but a by-product of day-to-day operation.
Who is affected by ESG reporting?
Primarily large companies — but through them, their suppliers too: more and more large clients request the emissions data of their haulage and delivery partners for their own supply chain reports. Those who can provide reliable data gain an advantage as suppliers.
Where does reliable data come from?
Every line of the logbook contains the ESG-relevant items: the fuel consumption measured at injector level, the CO₂ emissions calculated from it and the distance travelled — which can be aggregated by vehicle, by period and by client. Because consumption is measured factual data (not a norm or an estimate), the report can be audited.
How is this more than a calculator?
Online CO₂ calculators estimate from average consumption. FleetControl calculates from actual consumption — so the ESG report is not only a compliance document but also a mirror of operations: it shows which vehicle, which route and which driving style improves or worsens the balance. Together with driving analysis, emissions reduction can be turned into concrete measures.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to buy a separate module for ESG?
No: the ESG data is built into the logbook and generated line by line — it is not a separate module.
In what form can the report be delivered?
As a periodic report, compiled from any data stored in the system; a custom report format can also be requested (Custom report development).
